So, I am new to blogging and this will be either really great for me or I will get a couple of posts in and quit. So read at your own risk.
To give some background on myself, I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS or Mormon). As an LDS member, we are counseled to have a years supply of food storage in our homes. This Food Storage is meant to be a blessing to us. This is not necessarily due to any one catastrophe that shows like DoomsDay Preppers highlight but, any personal disaster that might come our way in these uncertain times.
I like to tell a story about friends of mine who are awesome at food storage. They have such a nice complete food storage and her husband has been laid off from work a few times. Their family was able to fall back on their food storage and know that their financial resources could to go things like Mortgage, Utilities because food was already taken care of. This is the more mundane reason to have a good food storage.
Now, I am a rookie at storing food. The purpose of this particular blog is to 1 - Get myself more fired up about food storage and 2 - If any of you have suggestions as to how to store something or what to store, I would hope you would comment so that we can learn together and 3 - To help others get fired up about food storage.
In doing research about food storage I have found that there are countless sites about how to store food, disaster preparedness and the like. What I don't like about those blogs though, are they are often pushing some product like Essential Oils or Food Storage Products. Now, this is not evil, they are just trying to make an honest buck but, I wanted a blog that is just that...a blog with no other agenda. So, I thought I would start one.
In researching food storage, I stumbled on a seminar by Wendy DeWitt and she puts forth a system of food storage that makes a lot of sense to me. It is a way of storing food that is very "store what you eat and eat what you store" centered. So, my next posts will be about going through the steps that she outlines. You can find her seminars on You Tube and are worth watching.
